Meghan considering 'legal action' against her father over leaked letter
He’s spilled details of her personal life to the public in interviews since she married Prince Harry back in May, but now it looks like Meghan Markle is ready to silence her father, Thomas Markle, for good.
This week, a letter written by the Duchess of Sussex to her father was revealed by the Daily Mail, which detailed the former Suits actress’ anguish at the hurt her dad has caused her since she joined the royal family.
But after her dad leaked her handwritten five-page essay to the media, it’s being reported that Meghan is so furious with the 74-year-old, that’s she’s considering taking legal action against him.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Kensington Palace is weighing up what options they have, with copyright of the Duchess’ personal property thought to be one of the avenues they could take in court.
It’s just another blow for the pair’s severely fractured relationship, which has been in tatters since Thomas pulled out of her wedding just days before it was due to take place, after he was reportedly admitted to hospital for heart surgery.
Then, he staged photos with the paparazzi, where he was seen browsing through stories on the internet about the royal couple and even went to get sized up for a suit.
Prince Charles famously stepped in to walk his daughter-in-law down the aisle, with Meghan said to be heartbroken that her beloved dad couldn’t make it to London for her nuptials.
Then, Thomas started to follow in the footsteps of his daughter, Samantha Markle, who had been giving interviews on the Duchess’ life since she first began dating Prince Harry back in 2016.
He spoke about how devastated he was that he missed out on the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle and claimed she had changed her phone number so he couldn’t contact her.
Thomas even said ‘it would be easier for Meghan if I died’ in an interview with the Daily Mail.
And after months of remaining silent, Meghan decided to try and squash her father’s penchant for speaking out publicly by sending him a handwritten letter, begging him to stop.
“Dad, I’m so heartbroken, I love you,” Meghan started the letter.
“I have one father. Please stop victimising me through the media so we can repair our relationship.”
However, it seems the relationship might be beyond repair if the Duchess is considering taking legal action against her dad.
