McDonald's adds 'iconic' brand-new burger to menu: 'Fresh twist'

Your Sunday morning trip to McDonald's with a pounding head and a pocketful of change and regrets is about to get better as the fast food chain has decided to put some creative spins on their most beloved 'burgs. Starting this week (August 7) fans of the Golden Arches will have not one, not two but FOUR types of Quarter Pounders to choose from because who said decision fatigue was so last year?

So what are these new meaty morsels that we will be hopelessly trying to decide upon while the guy in the ute with the CU in the NT sticker behind us yells "hurry the f**k up" out his window? Let's give you the breakdown.

First up you've got the brand-new Quarter Pounder BBQ Bacon and Crispy Onions, which Maccas describes as The iconic Quarter Pounder with a flavoursome twist.

Then you've got the Quarter Pounder Deluxe which features 100% Aussie crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes and pickles, stacked on top of 100% Aussie beef, plus cheese, onions, tangy mustard, ketchup and McChicken sauce. Truthfully, I have not stopped thinking about smashing one of these bad boys since I learned of its existence.

And then, of course, you've got your Quarter Pounder and Double Quarter Pounder - those faithful friends who never left you despite you going through a "vegan" phase and ghosting them for 6 weeks.

If this burger bonanza is not enough to cure your cravings, you'll be happy to know that Mozzarella Sticks with Sweet Chilli Sauce will also continue to be available for the season.

The news of the new and improved Quarter Pounders comes after the fast food favourite announced the launch of the limited edition Steakhouse Stack - a UK invention that features two 100% Aussie beef patties and shredded lettuce, Aussie Jack cheese, crispy golden onions and slivered red onions topped with a creamy peppercorn mayo, served on a toasted gourmet bun.

Liz Whitbread, Senior Brand Manager for McDonald’s Australia said in a statement, “Our winter menu is all about adding a seasonal touch on Macca’s classic flavours – debatably, it doesn’t get more iconic than the Quarter Pounder.

Remember though, most of these items are only available for a limited time so enjoy them while you can and then dine out on the memories forever.
