Maya Rudolph Didn't Disappoint On Her Awaited 'SNL' Return As Kamala Harris

Saturday Night Live” has kicked off its 50th season premiere by taking jabs at the 2024 presidential election with a gang of star-studded cameos.

During the show’s cold open on Saturday, former “SNL” cast member and “Big Mouth” star Maya Rudolph saddled up again for her Emmy-winning role as Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Well your fun aunt has returned,” Rudolph declared as she appeared onstage.

Rudolph was joined by returning cast members Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, and Andy Samberg as Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, as well as James Austin Johnson as former President Donald Trump.

Bowen Yang also joined the mix of famous political faces with his portrayal of Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan appeared in this episode to portray Harris’ running mate and Democratic VP nominee, Tim Walz.

“I’ve got to be honest here folks. When Kamala Harris called and asked to be her vice president, I said, ‘Uh, yeah,’” Gaffigan, as Walz, said. “This is personal for me. I love this country. And as a former teacher, I need the money. This suit is from Costco!”

Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, reacted over the show’s cameos.

The host for the premiere of “SNL” Season 50 was “Hacks” star Jean Smart alongside musical guest Jelly Roll.
