In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of his new Netflix comedy series Running Point on Wednesday, Feb. 12, the actor, 45, raved about the wave of young, female singers dominating today's charts.
"Music is so good right now. I mean, especially these young female artists — unbelievable. I'm just into it," he says, calling out Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams and Billie Eilish in particular.
The father of two — he shares daughter Lilly, 15, and son Ozzie, 9, with wife Tess Sanchez — then recalled how when he heard that Abrams, 25, was performing locally, he and Lilly jumped at the chance to catch her live. "Gracie Abrams came out and I told my daughter, 'I'm going to the Greek [Theatre] if you want to come with me.' But of course she was into it," he says. "I think Gracie's incredible, obviously Billie, all of them — they're just so good."

Greenfield also noted how he loves the positive, community-like vibe that these artists have cultivated at their concerts and among their fanbases.
"The vibe in these rooms when [they] perform, it's so nice to see," he tells PEOPLE. "I go with my daughter, I like the music, but to see her and her friends embrace that community and be embraced by that community when we go to these shows, it is just so meaningful and they create such a positive environment."

"You were like, 'I just want to do this forever if the world felt like this,' " he explains. "But yeah, I mean the vibe is just the best, and all of those women are so talented."
For Greenfield, watching these young singers take the music industry by storm helps keep him young. "It's cool because I'm old now and watching what Gracie's doing, Olivia, you're in it and you go, 'Okay, this is what's going on.' And [it] keeps me young a little bit," he says.

As his daughter, he adds, today's generation of female pop stars are "real role models."
But when it comes to sharing the same musical tastes as the teen and her friends, the Neighborhood star joked that he has to curb his enthusiasm a bit. "They don't want to see me too much into the music. I'll start dancing and then I get yelled at," he explains of embarrassing Lilly. "I get it though. I mean, I understand it. I do dig the music, but if I start singing, it's too much."

"I was like, 'I'm in. I don't even need to read anything I'm in because I love Kate.' I've been such a fan of hers for so long, and the idea of working with her was really exciting," he says, noting how his character helped reveal a softer side of Hudson's Isla.
"I really am in service of Kate's character, and you get to see a much different side of her when she's at home with Lev. And it was fun to play a different shade and to specifically do that with somebody like Kate, who's so strong and such a presence," he explains, adding, "I had a really good time."
Running Point premieres Feb. 27 on Netflix.
