Matthew McConaughey Is Nearly Unrecognizable in New Ad
Legendary Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka, is that you?
No wait, it’s Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey in a new Super Bowl commercial.
The Dallas Buyers Club star dressed like the three-time Super Bowl winner in a new commercial for Uber Eats that is set to premiere during the big game on Feb. 9.
A preview of the commercial was released on Jan. 26, and in it viewers can see McConaughey, wearing a 1980s Bears sweater with a button-down shirt and tie underneath. With his hair styled like Ditka and even sporting the coach’s signature mustache, McConaughey approaches a mirror in a dressing room before practicing his impression.
“The Bears,” the Texas native drawls before trying again. But just like with the characters he’s played in most of his television and movie appearances, his accent shines through.
The actor continues trying until the end of the 30-second clip, when he successfully nails the impression, puts on the aviator sunglasses that were hanging off his collar, and struts out of the room as “Uber Eats 02.09.25” appears on the screen.
Easter eggs abound in the commercial, from a photo of Ditka pinned to the wall next to the mirror, to a Chicago-style hot dog (delivered by Uber Eats, of course) sitting on a side table. A jersey for legendary Bears player William "The Refrigerator" Perry hangs on a clothing rack.
Though McConaughey is portraying the Bears’ coach in the clip, the actor is a lifelong Washington Commanders fan. On Sunday, ahead of the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, McConaughey shared a photo of himself holding up a small Washington Redskins jacket on social media.

After years of heavy scrutiny over its name, a slur for Native Americans, the team changed its moniker in 2020 to the Washington Football Team before landing on the Commanders in 2022.
“Hailing since 1974,” McConaughey captioned the photo, referencing the team’s former fight song, “Hail to the Redskins.”
