'That's wrong': MasterChef fans slam chef's 'unfair' pressure test advantage

Last night’s pressure test saw thee of MasterChef’s brightest stars sweat it out over a complex curry pasta dish, but some fans say one contender was given a jaw-dropping advantage by the judges.

Andy Allen, food critic Melissa Leong, and restaurateur and chef Jock Zonfrillo.was facing off against Poh Ling Yeow and Rose Adam, trying to perfectly recreate the dish in a bid to stay in the competition, when the judges passed by his table and dropped a major hint.

The trio was tasked with recreating chef Helly Raichura’s intricate dish, and the guest judge couldn’t help. ut point out a major mistake to Ben while he was cooking, with enough time for him to fix it.

“You’re not forgetting anything?” the guest judge asked him, leading him to realise he hadn’t added Tumeric to his dish.

Ben ultimately beat Rose who was eliminated over the challenge, staying on for another week.

Fans have since taken to social media to slam the heavy-handed nod in the right direction as ‘unfair’.

Many claim that given the test was on the chef’s ability to recreate the dish from the recipe, reminding him of a forgotten ingredient was tantamount to cheating.

“They should not have told a contestant they forgot an ingredient,” one fan wrote.

“That’s wrong.”

“He did get a bit of help the others didn’t,” another agreed.

“I am not against Ben, yet if the judges helped all three he would be eliminated, as they reminded him about the tumeric,” a third wrote. “It’s not much but time is of the essence is it not?”

“Different judges same sh*t,” a slightly more irate fan ranted. “Help some and not others... so not fair.”

Fans of the series are no strangers to passionate debate over the fairness of the competition, often disagreeing over which dishes deserve a place at the table – whose parfait was parfait if you like.

Last week Hayden Quinn came under fire for a dessert fans perceived as ‘basic’ which saw him safe for another week in the competition.

On the other hand chefs like Poh and Reynold have been criticised for being ‘overqualified’ for the competition, with many fans claiming the pair skew the competition.
