The Masked Singer Season 13 Premiere Dethrones a King of Comedy — Who’s Under the Other Masks?
The Masked Singer is really making us work for it in Season 13.
Wednesday’s premiere introduced viewers to the five members of Group A — Ant, Coral, Fuzzy Peas, Honey Pot and Paparazzo. But aside from one obvious celebrity, who quickly became the season’s first elimination at the end of the hour, the other four are proving far more difficult to identify. From an inspiring insect to a hard-partying vegetable, we already have much to consider.

Fortunately, there’s one mystery we won’t have to solve: the premiere unmasked Cedric the Entertainer (aka Honey Pot), whose take on Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” just didn’t do it for the studio audience, leading to The Neighborhood star’s untimely exit.
Read on for a breakdown of everything we learned about Season 13’s first contestants, along with our best guesses for each. Plus, get an early peek at the contestants we’ll be meeting later on this season. When you’re finished, drop a comment with your own predictions. Who’s under those masks?
Ant
EPISODE 1 | “The thing about ants is that they’re small and mighty,” she says. “I’ve been forced to bear a deep, dark secret for my entire career. And because of this secret, powerful people tried to erase me, to brush me off, to stomp me out. The weight of it broke my spirit, broke me. But recently, I made a decision. I could stay broken or I could be a warrior. That’s the reason I’m here — to fight for my voice and be heard. And like any ant, I march towards real change.” Visual clues included a dollhouse, a tree marked with a red “X” and a wizard’s hat.
“I’m really here on stage tonight for all the survivors” she added. “I see you. Anyone who has had to endure, I see you, I support you. Together, no one will ever stomp us out.”
OUR BEST GUESS | It feels a little obvious, but could this be Kesha? Beyond her very public story of survival, “I could be a warrior” also smells like a reference to her 2012 album Warrior. As for the hat, Kesha apparently collaborated with a real-life wizard on her latest album, so… do with that what you will.
Coral
EPISODE 1 | “Ever since I was young, I’ve dreamed of being a star,” Coral says. “I’d ask everyone, ‘Please please please, let me sing for you!’” After eight years of rejection, a small victory turned into Coral’s voice being heard across the globe. “All those no’s just made me stronger. And all it took was one yes to start a wave of success.” Visual clues included a white model house with an American flag, a broken heart on a TV (or computer) screen and a “live” TV sign.
OUR BEST GUESS | We were ready to raise our glasses high to Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, but after seeing several viewers suggest Meg Donnelly — star of ABC’s American Housewife, Disney Channel’s Z-O-M-B-I-E-S movies and The CW’s gone-too-soon Supernatural prequel The Winchesters — we’re changing our vote.
Fuzzy Peas
EPISODE 1 | Like his costume, Fuzzy Peas is “silly, he’s suave, but he also looks like a conqueror.” He’s third-generation in his field, and he has several Grammy nominated hits; he even says he was nominated opposite Shakira and Christina Aguilera. He also secured his mother’s dying wish of getting a “gold record.” His motto? “I never say no to a challenge — or a fiesta!” Visual clues included a rubber chicken, an Xbox controller and a (literal) golden globe.
OUR BEST GUESS | Friends, put those gloves on and let’s get a round of applause for… Oscar De La Hoya! Not only is he a third-generation boxer, following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps, but he was also nominated for a 2001 Grammy Award in the same category as Shakira and Aguilera. He has also appeared in video games, hence the Xbox controller.
Honey Pot Is… Cedric the Entertainer!
Oh, honey! The Masked Singer’s Season 13 premiere revealed Honey Pot to be none other than Cedric the Entertainer — which is ironic, considering we were (briefly) convinced that Cedric and his fellow Kings of Comedy were last season’s Buffalos. Hey, maybe The Neighborhood star saw our guesses and became inspired to compete! It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve influenced TV.
Paparazzo
EPISODE 1 | “Becoming Paparazzo is perfect for me — let’s face it, the lens has been pointed at my direction my entire life,” he says. “I worked with the greats [including Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Chris Farley], I took over the silver screen [possibly in a movie about race cars], and I even took America’s sweetheart to prom. … If you guys keep me around, I might spill the tea on yet another friend of mine — Steve Martin.” Visual clues included a “home sweet home” doormat and a brown dog.
OUR BEST GUESS | While we were initially tempted to lean into Robin Thicke’s guess of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, we’re now 100% sure that he’s… not even close. Paparazzo is none other than Matthew Lawrence of Boy Meets World fame. Not only has he worked with all of the aforementioned actors, but guess who he took to prom — Danielle “Topanga” Fishel!
