“The Masked Singer” reveals all-new theme and 'delightfully mischievous' star for season 13 (exclusive)

No unlucky number 13 here!

During tonight's season 12 finale of The Masked Singer, the first look at the bonkers reality competition's next season will air, and Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look.

In the brief TV spot, which you can check out below, some potential costumes are teased, and the season’s all-new “Lucky 13” theme is revealed for the first time. EW can't say for sure, but some of the masks being hinted at appear to be somehow related to a cutesy birdhouse, a honeycomb, a Loch Ness monster, pearls, a regal bird, a camera, a bat, a space cowboy, and more. How many costumes can you spot?

In a statement, Fox teased, "Who said 13 was an unlucky number? Just when you think you’ve seen it all, season 13 of The Masked Singer is back with the luckiest, most fun season full of clues and special unmaskings with its all-new 'Lucky 13' theme."

As if that wasn't enough to whet viewers' appetites for the new episodes, hold on to your good luck charms and prepare to meet the show's new character, Lucky Duck! In the TV spot, he makes a brief appearance to ask, "What the duck will happen?" Get a closer look at him in the image, below.

Just who is this new character? Fox reveals that he "is delightfully mischievous and will pop in throughout the season to offer cheeky and luck-related clues. Lucky Duck will be unmasked at the end of the season, and there could be a very special connection to someone on the show!"

In other words, Lucky Duck is sort of season 13's Cluedle-Doo. Longtime fans will recall that the latter character popped up throughout season 5 to offer clues and generally torment the panel. When it was all said and done, he was unmasked to reveal actor, New Kids on the Block singer, and husband to panelist Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Donnie Wahlberg (much to Jenny's complete shock).

Before all of that fun starts, though, be sure to catch the season 12 finale Wednesday night. In it, season 5 winner, Piglet (Nick Lachey), returns to the stage to ring in the holiday season with a joyful rendition of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." And, in their battle for the Golden Mask Trophy, the final two contestants — Wasp and Buffalo — are ready to pull out all the stops and bring the house down with showstopping performances of “When I Was Your Man,” “Somebody That I Used To Know,” “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “Too Good At Goodbyes.”

Tune in to see who will be unmasked as the season 12 winner and runner-up in The Masked Singer finale episode airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

Season 13 is slated to premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 12. EW can confirm that panelists McCarthy-Wahlberg, Rita Ora, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and host Nick Cannon will all be returning for the lucky new episodes.
