The Masked Singer: Judges left stunned as finale is interrupted

The Masked Singer finale was cancelled two weeks ago when a crew member tested positive for coronavirus, but it was interrupted for a very different reason when they attempted to film it again this week.

Judge Jackie 'O' Henderson, revealed on the Kyle and Jackie O Show that the grand finale taping was interrupted by an angry security guard this time around.

After cases of coronavirus were discovered on the set of The Masked Singer, cast and crew were forced to quarantine in Melbourne for two weeks, however, producers allowed Jackie O to return to Sydney and fellow judge Urzila Carlson to return to New Zealand.

"They put our health before the show and they pretty much sent everyone back to their home," Jackie said.

However, when it came time to shoot the finale, they had to do so with green screens and it lead to a very funny moment.

She continued: "We are ambitiously filming the finale via green screen with people in two different countries, two different states and three different locations and they’re keying us in as if we’re all together in studio."

"Urzila is quarantining in this hotel (in New Zealand) by herself so therefore she cannot have anyone enter her room to help her out with equipment. All she’s been given is some sort of GoPro to put on the top of her computer, she’s got a green sheet behind her and she has to do her own hair and makeup."

Filming began at 4pm AEST and continued for more than 10 hours. With only half an hour to go, Urzila was interrupted by an angry security guard.

"It’s 1:30 in the morning and we’ve done two mask reveals and we’re waiting for our final mask reveal," Jackie said.

While it was 1:30am in Sydney, New Zealand is two hours ahead of us, meaning it was actually 3:30am where Urzila was.

"Urzila gets a busting knock on the door, we’re talking ‘bang, bang, bang!’ Ursula’s like, 'Oh my god, someone’s at the door, they’re banging on the door!'"

"I said to her, 'Why would you be getting a knock on the door at this time?' She said, 'Probably because for the last hour and a half I’ve been yelling out, ‘Take it off, take it off, take it off!'"

Urzila soon realised it was hotel security.

Jackie revealed she was in stitches after imagining the situation. "I was in tears thinking about the people in New Zealand in hotel quarantine hearing some girl on her own at 3.30 in the morning just yelling out these things."

Urzila took to Instagram to share the story and joked: "I don't know if you've stayed in a hotel before but they're not as soundproof as you think."

She continued: "I stopped screaming immediately. I thought I don't want to get tased. I didn't even want to open the door. I thought if I just keep quiet they'll go away, which they did."

The comedian said she didn't want to answer the door as she was in full makeup, jewellery, a sequinned top, but had been wearing Superman pyjama pants because her lower half wasn't going to be seen on TV.

"I didn't want to whip the door open and have an army man already wondering what I'm doing inside with 'Take that off!' and I'm in Ugg boots, sequins and pyjama pants," she said.

The finale will air next Monday night on Channel Ten with Bushranger, Queen and Frillneck still yet to be unmasked, though it's believed they are Bonnie Anderson, Kate Miller-Heidke and Eddie Perfect respectively.
