The Masked Singer’s Beets Revealed? We’re Just Aiken to Share Our Theory

With the Group B Finals just hours away (Fox, 8/7c), it’s time to make our final guesses about another one of The Masked Singer‘s secret celebrities. In fact, let’s make it a twofer this week.

That’s right, we’re talking about this season’s nutritious, harmonious duo — the Beets! Like the judges, we were also stumped when they first sauntered onto the scene back in March. Heck, at one point we even thought that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele might have been masquerading as the pair of root vegetables.

But after analyzing the Beets’ two packages of clues, and giving a few more listens to the songs they’ve performed thus far, we believe they can only be one twosome: American Idol legends Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard!

Let’s start with the clues from the Beets’ first episode. They said they once had “40 million eyes” on them, referring to the live ratings of their final showdown in Idol‘s second season finale (May 21, 2023), and lamented that the world seemed determined to pit them against each other. (You kind of had to be there, but the Idol fandom was absolutely bonkers back in the day.)

In their second appearance, the Beets alluded to touring the country together before taking their act to Broadway. Well, guess which duo just happened to star in Ruben & Clay’s First Annual Family Fun Pageant Spectacular Reunion Christmas Show on Broadway back in 2018! (That was rhetorical, by the way. If you can’t guess from that, you’ve got much bigger problems than identifying Masked Singer contestants.)
