'Gaslighting': MAFS fans slam Bryce's 'not ugly' jab at Melissa
Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight saw some of the first couples head off on their honeymoons, and while things went relatively well for some, viewers were left furious after a frustrating exchange between Melissa and Bryce.
The couple seemed to initially hit it off, with Melissa even admitting the pair slept together on the first night, but when they were given an "honesty box" filled with questions to go through things took a turn.
And viewers have slammed Bryce after the resulting exchange left Melissa in tears.
One of the questions centred on first impressions and had Melissa asking her 'husband': "Am I your usual type?”
And his response just snowballed.
"Ummm. It’s a tough question. I’ll be completely honest. Not 100 per cent,” he said.
“I’ve always gone for the blonde hair, blue eyes, tan kinda girl. And usually tall. I can’t say 100 per cent I’d come up to you in a bar and buy you a drink."
And it went on...
“When I first saw you I thought, ‘Not my type’. But, I thought, she’s not … ugly?"
You could literally see all of Melissa's insecurities - which she had opened up about on the show - resurface in her face. And yet Bryce seemed oblivious to the hurt he had caused.

"Were you hoping I’d say I thought you were the most gorgeous girl in the world … or? Is that the answer you were hoping for?” he continued.
Melissa was so stunned by his response she remained silent for a long time before saying: "I can’t help the way you feel. But I probably wouldn’t have been intimate with you."
She then decides to ask him if he is on the show for the right reasons, a question which immediately offends Bryce who ends up telling the camera he's "pissed", and Melissa ends up leaving in tears.
The exchange had many viewers seeing red, with some taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.
"Not my type but she’s not ugly?!!!!! WTAF Bryce?" one person wrote.
"I hate how Bryce is turning this around on Melissa, as if he didn't just greatly insult and hurt her," another pointed out.
And plenty of people agreed with that point, calling Bryce out for seemingly gaslighting his 'wife'.
"First he offends her, no apology and then he acts wounded and she then apologies to him? What universe am I in?" one person said.
"Melissa, You DON’T need to apologise to Bryce. Don’t give him the satisfaction of making you feel bad like that," another said in support.
"Let the gaslighting begin," was another comment, while a fourth wrote: "GASLIGHTING MUCH BRYCE????"
Some even called on producers to step in.
"This is not ok - Bryce is being is emotionally abusive and the producers needs to step in," was one reaction.
"Step in here Producers ... anytime. Reassure her that Bryce is a d*** and she is not to blame," another said.
