MAFS: How much the contestants were paid for the reunion

Married At First Sight star Dean Wells has revealed how much he and his fellow contestants were paid for agreeing to take part in the upcoming ‘Grand Reunion’ special.

The season five ‘villain’ spilled all the details on Friday morning during a chat with Nova's Fitzy & Wippa who asked him point-blank about a rumour that Sam Ball was offered $50,000 to take part.

That’s such a load of rubbish,” Dean said of the claims.

“They were saying some people are on $2,500, other people are on $50,000, some people are doing it for free...” Wippa prompted.

Yeah I got paid, I’ve heard all different numbers and I’ll tell you the truth; I got offered $2,500 for two nights and I said that’s an insult,” Dean revealed.

“Double it and I’ll think about it and they [the producers] were like yeah, okay will pay you $5,000.

“I’m pretty sure everyone else got about the same. Ryan [Gallagher] and I have the same manager who deals with that sort of stuff and I’m pretty sure everyone is roughly around that amount.”

Dean and Ryan’s reunion run-in

On the subject of Ryan, Dean went on to admit that the pair had a run-in while filming the highly-anticipated two-part special after not having seen each other for over a year.

There is, of course, bad blood between the two men after Dean cheated on his ‘wife’ Tracey Jewel with Ryan’s ‘wife’ Davina Rankin on the 2018 season.

Tensions reportedly increased last year when Dean was seen out and about with a blonde woman who Ryan was supposedly dating.

“You were seen out with that same girl while Ryan was seeing her and you were partying with her? I think there was a blue about this. Do you guys fight about this?” Fitzy asked.

Yeah, yeah we do talk about that. I wasn’t out with her dating her or anything, [Ryan] dumped her at the time in very suss and disrespectful circumstances which I’ve said very publicly, he thought he was going to be the next Bachelor so he dumped this poor girl,” Dean replied.

She didn’t deserve that to happen to her, I brought that up with Ryan because we haven’t talked about it,” he added.

According to Dean, the encounter became heated enough to warrant the producers stepping in and ‘walking Ryan out’ of the set to ‘protect’ him. In the end, however, Dean said the two ‘shook hands and made up’.

When does the MAFS ‘Grand Reunion’ special start?

The ‘Grand Reunion’ special will air over two nights: 7pm Sunday, January 31 and 7.30pm Monday, February 1, on Channel Nine.

Back in December, the network confirmed that filming for a two-part reunion special was underway, leaving fans champing at the bit to learn which familiar faces would be returning.

It was later confirmed that an explosive mix of contestants from the 2018 and 2019 seasons were on board, including Cyrell Paule and Jessika Power — who have a very heated run-in on the night — along with Ines Basic, Ryan Gallagher and Mike Gunner.

Dean Wells and Nasser Sultan — who reportedly also had a tiff with Cyrell during filming — along with the recently-split Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus are also set to appear.

And it’s not just the single stars making a comeback either with MAFS success stories Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli as well as new parents Jules and Cam and mum-to-be Tracey Jewel also heading back to where it all began.
