Maroon 5's Adam Levine hits back at 'affair' claim: 'Crossed the line'

Instagram model Sumner Stroh has taken a dig at Adam Levine after he claimed their relationship was ‘flirtatious’ but denied having an affair.

The influencer kept her statement short, writing: “Someone get this man a dictionary.”

It’s likely that Sumner was referring to the pop star after he released a statement about their alleged affair just days after Levine's wife announced they were expecting a third child.

The Maroon 5 frontman shared his side of the story on Instagram, denying that he had any physical contact with the model.

“A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air. I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner,” he began.

“I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.

“My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again.

“I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together,” he finished.

Sumner Stroh claims they had an affair

Stroh dropped the bombshell news on Tuesday in a TikTok video that has now been viewed over 18 million times.

She explained that she had the alleged affair with Levine when she was ‘young and naive’, saying that it lasted for about a year.

The TikToker shared screenshots of the ‘flirtatious messages’ she had exchanged with Levine, before saying they lost touch for ‘a period of months’.

However, she decided to share the story because Levine came back into her life with a strange request.

The singer allegedly sent a message asking if he could name his third child after the Instagram model.

“Ok serious question. I’m having another baby and if it’s [a] boy I really wanna name it Sumner. You ok with that? DEAD serious,” Levine asked, according to her screenshot.

Stroh responds to backlash

It wasn’t long before Stroh was branded a ‘homewrecker’ and slammed for entering a relationship with a married man.

In a follow-up video that has now been viewed over 7 million times, she revealed that she believed that Levine’s marriage was ‘over’ during the alleged affair.

“The most important part that I definitely glossed over was the fact that I was under the impression that their marriage was over,” she explained.

“I believed they were keeping it quiet to avoid the negative press, because, as I had said, I was new to LA so I just assumed that with the celebrities of the calibre that’s just how it was.”

Stroh told her followers that she only told her story once a friend allegedly tried to sell screenshots to the press, and she ‘wanted to kill whatever story the tabloid had’.

“Something I now realise I didn’t touch on enough was the fact that one of my friends had attempted to sell it. I realised yesterday when they reached out for comment, which is why I was so frantic,” she said.

She was adamant that she wasn’t trying to gain ‘sympathy’, and doesn’t view herself as ‘the victim’.

“I’m not the one who is really getting hurt here, it’s Behati and her children. And for that I am so, so sorry.”
