A spate of leaked emails from Sony has had Hollywood in a spin this week.

Firstly, Angelina Jolie was accused of being a "spoilt brat" by execs, and then it was revealed that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid less than their male co-stars for the movie American Hustle.

Today, Aaron Sorkin, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Social Network, revealed in a leaked email to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd that he believes female actresses have it easier than males when it comes to the Oscar race.

"Year in and year out, the guy who wins the Oscar for best actor has a much higher bar to clear than the woman who wins best actress," wrote Sorkin.

"Cate [Blanchett] gave a terrific performance in Blue Jasmine but nothing close to the degree of difficulty for any of the five best actor nominees. Daniel Day-Lewis had to give the performance he gave in Lincoln to win - Jennifer Lawrence won for Silver Linings Playbook, in which she did what a professional actress is supposed to be able to do."

The findings were revealed by a group calling themselves 'Guardians of Peace' (GOP), who were previously responsible for leaking emails between Sony execs that accused Angelina Jolie of being "a spoilt brat".

The group is responsible for Sony halting release on the upcoming comedy "The Interview," which has also been denounced by North Korea.
