Never fear, Bill Murray is here! The actor will appear in the new all-female Ghostbusters film.

What’s a Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray?

The American funnyman and star of the originals (he played Peter Venkman, the fast-talking, wise-cracking member of the trio that also included Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis) is officially confirmed to appear in Paul Feig’s much-anticipated all-female reboot of the ‘80s sci-fi franchise.

Only time will tell if Murray will appear as his original character Venkman or in an unrelated cameo role (co-star Akroyd has also signed on to appear in the movie, filming scenes with the reboot’s star Kristen Wiig earlier this year). Originally, Murray expressed his disinterest in appearing in another Ghostbusters flick, but it seems he has had a change of heart (maybe his St Vincent co-star Melissa McCarthy, who will also star in the reboot, had a hand in that?)

The reboot, starring Wiig, McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and, of course, Chris Hemsworth (as a receptionist), is filming in Boston right now. The film will be released some time next year.
