Caitlyn Jenner, the transgender woman formerly known as Bruce, has chosen the cover of Vanity Fair to debut her female identity.

Jenner recently went public with her decision to transition to a woman, in a tell-all interview with Diane Sawyer. At the time of filming, Jenner did not yet call herself ‘she’ and told Sawyer that she intend to use her celebrity status to make gender identity issues less taboo.

The Vanity Fair cover – which revealed Jenner’s female identity for the first time – was shot by legendry fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz.

In a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, Jenner said, “Bruce always had to tell a lie, he was always living that lie.”

“Every day he always had a secret, from morning ‘til night, Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets.”

“As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”
