Westfield Sydney Opens
The new Westfield Sydney opened its doors this morning to a bevy of excited shoppers eager to get their first look at the $1.2 billion development.
Describing the project as "the next generation in Australian retail", Westfield Group Managing Director Australia & New Zealand Robert Jordan said of the opening, "Westfield Sydney has become the benchmark for downtown shopping malls in Australia. We've developed a global centre that will offer the very best in retail, design, and services and we believe the centre will position Sydney as an international shopping destination."

More than 100 speciality stores are set to open by Christmas, with another 150 joining the extensive lineup in 2011. Sydney firsts and flagship stores opening today include Gap, Mulberry, Guess, Hugo Boss, ALDO, Ted Baker and Swarovski. Shoppers can also expect to see international brands Zara, Diane Von Furstenberg, Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu, Prada, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo and Gucci join the likes of local designers Ksubi, Zimmermann, Sass and Bide and Thurley in later stages of the development.
If all that shopping in one place makes you a little tired, Westfield Sydney also offers a premium concierge service and gift card offering, hotel and office delivery of purchases, a drop off and delivery dry-cleaning service, hail-a-cab, cloakroom and drive-and-dine service.
