For those of you collectively holding your breath, waiting for anything – a teaser pic, a Badgal Riri instagram, even a single tweet – to be released from Rihanna’s first Dior campaign, well, the wait is over.
The first images from Rihanna’s Dior campaign are here, and, in a word, they’re epic.
Shot by legendary photographer Steven Klein inside the Palace of Versailles, the images are moodier, broodier and have a whole lot more attitude than Dior’s usual flawless, ladylike images featuring other campaign stars such as Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman.

Rihanna, outfitted in pieces from the brand’s Esprit Dior collection, looks like a glamazon in her sequined high-neck dresses, clutching armfuls of metallic Diorama bags. In an accompanying short video advertisement, Rihanna runs through the famous Hall of Mirrors – red ballgown gathered up in her hands – to the strains of her own song, “Only If For A Night”.
Of Rihanna, Dior's CEO Sidney Toledano told WWD that “she has this kind of elegance – we saw it from the very first moment – and then she can surprise. She can be unexpected and we like it. It’s part of this personality.”
“[Rihanna] is a goddess but accessible. The way she moves is part of the young generation.”
Rihanna is the first black woman to appear in a Dior campaign, making these images not only endlessly glamorous but also iconic.
