Man sparks fierce debate after 'rude' plane act: 'Blows my mind'

A traveller has sparked fierce debate online, after slamming a fellow plane passenger for blocking his wife's TV screen during a flight.

Posting on the popular internet forum Reddit, the man explained how the passenger in front of his wife had covered their entertainment screen with a coat.

Sharing a picture of the situation, he wrote: “I guess no entertainment for my wife on this flight…”

The photo shows a black coat wrapped around the top of the aeroplane seat, covering most of the entertainment screen and making it unusable.

Many users were outraged at the situation.

“Flip it back over the lady’s head,” one person suggested.

“Uh hell no! That cover would have come off real quick…by me as soon as she put it on,” a second user added.

“Blows my mind how someone can do that, while realising they have a TV/touchscreen in front of them and not think about the TV that’s on the back of their own seat,” another wrote.

“Obviously you have been presented with a glorious canvas on which to paint and smear a variety of condiments, sauces, and other seasonings from your food service to commemorate your flight,” a fourth quipped.

However, not everybody was on the man’s side — with many saying he should have just asked the passenger to move her coat.

“Call me crazy, just ask the person in front to move their coat? They probably just didn’t think about it,” one said.

“Why do people always want to cause a scene? I’m sure she put her jacket on the seat without really realising it would block the TV. All you have to do is kindly ask her to move it and she will,” another wrote.

A flight attendant even waded into the debate, and told the man exactly how to handle the situation next time.

“Step 1: Politely inform the passenger that their chair cover is covering up your TV screen and ask them to adjust it. If that does not work or they get an attitude — Step 2: Ring the call button and politely explain the situation to a flight attendant who will then handle it,” the flight attendant wrote.
