Maluma Shares Extreme Measures He Took to Prep for Calvin Klein Underwear Shoot - and the Fallout That Followed

The Colombian rapper told Allure that he "almost passed out" during the photoshoot

Maluma is offering the BTS — or perhaps TMI — of his 2020 Calvin Klein underwear ad.

In an interview with Allure published on Tuesday, July 23, the 30-year-old Colombian rapper pulled back the curtain on the photoshoot, which he went to extreme (and unhealthy) measures to prepare for.

“I starved myself for 12 days before that shoot,” he told the outlet. “I almost passed out. And when it was done, I ate two pizzas and a cheeseburger and had the worst diarrhea of my life.”

In February 2020, the musician starred alongside Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, SZA, Lil Nas X, Hunter Schafer and Lay Zhang for Calvin Klein's Spring 2020 campaign.

In the campaign video, Maluma flexes his sculpted arms and abs in front of a mirror while wearing nothing but white tube socks and Calvin Klein boxer briefs.

“It’s Maluma, baby. Deal with it,” he says.

The Latin superstar later stripped down again for Playgirl.com, serving as the face of the site's relaunch in March 2024.

In one shot, Maluma stands shirtless in a white-walled kitchen, staring into the camera as he pours milk into a bowl of cereal. His tattoos on dull display, he wears only what appears to be a grey robe tied around his waist. The musician also dons a cowboy-inspired look consisting of a denim vest, matching pants and cream-colored brimmed hat.

For the cover, he wears black and white striped pajama set with the shirt unbuttoned.

“I’ve been [acting sexy] for almost 10 years, since I started my career,” Maluma told the outlet, noting that people can still "admire someone and think that a person is sexy or that they’re hot," even when that person is in a committed relationship.

The singer and his girlfriend Susana Gómez welcomed their first baby, daughter Paris, on March 9, 2024. They were first spotted together in August 2020, per Hola!, and announced they were expecting in October 2023 via the music video for "Procura."
