Major Malfunction During Journey Concert at Houston Rodeo Ends Show Abruptly
Journey fans had to go their separate ways after a major malfunction cut the rock band’s concert short at the Houston Rodeo on March 14.
An hour into the gig, just as the band was playing one of their biggest hits, “Don’t Stop Believin,’” the power to the stage was cut off mid-song.
Fans at the show weren’t sure how to react, initially continuing to sing the 1981 smash a capella, but it quickly became clear that something was wrong as power did not return, making it impossible for the band to continue into its set.

KHOU reports that crew members ran onto the stage holding fire extinguishers, and the band left as a result of what the Houston Rodeo later called an “electrical incident.” After a few minutes, an announcement was made over a loudspeaker to let attendees know that the concert had been cancelled.
In a post shared on social media by the yearly event, rodeo organizers said that due to the unforeseen incident, “we regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight’s Journey concert. We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment.”
The post continued, expressing a sincere apology “to all fans for this disappointment” and noting that the “team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and refunds as soon as possible.”
Though the cause of the incident has not been publicly revealed, country singer Warren Zeiders’ March 15 concert on the same stage is expected to continue as planned.
Parade reached out to Journey’s reps for comment but did not immediately hear back.
