Following the news of her death, fans of the two-time Academy Award winner's work—which includes credits in several hit TV series like Downton Abbey and David Copperfield (1999) as well as mega movie hits like the Harry Potter film franchise, A Room With a View (1985), Sister Act (1992), The Secret Garden (1993) and All the King's Men (1999)—took to social media to celebrate her legendary career and legacy.

"Rest in peace to an absolute treasure," one X (formerly Twitter) user captioned a photo of Smith alongside two of her late Harry Potter co-stars, Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon, in character as Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall and Albus Dumbledore. "They’ve been reunited."
