MAFS star running in next federal election
Former Married At First Sight star Troy Delmege is running for parliament!
The reality star might have been a bit of a comedian during his time on Season 5, but he had a serious announcement to make to his fans on Instagram yesterday.
“Hey guys, I’m so excited to announce today that I am going to be contesting the next federal election in the seat of North Sydney, my hometown where I grew up,” he explained in a short video.
“I’m sick of the same old politics and I believe it’s time for the next generation to step up. I’ll be running as an independent candidate, ready to set a new tone of optimism and hope.
“I’m going to be someone who brings the community together and helps inspire the next generation of Australians. Someone who passionately cares about every single member of the community,” he added.
“This is going to be a grass roots campaign and I would love your support.”
He concluded: “I’ll be having an official launch in a couple of weeks so stay tuned. Thanks for all your support and I look forward to catching up soon.”
Troy was a memorable character on last year’s season of MAFS where he was originally matched with flight attendant Ashley Irvin.
While their relationship did not survive the experiment, he later moved on with fellow contestant Carly Bower, however, their love was also short-lived and the pair called it quits in August last year.
It seems his next love will be politics.
