MAFS star Martha says Nic 'was just in it for himself'

After a tumultuous relationship, Married At First Sight’s Cyrell Jimenez Paule and Nic Jovanovic called it quits last night.

And according to co-star Martha Kalifatidis, it’s Nic who caused the most problems for the pair during the social experiment, as “he was just in it for himself”.

“I think Cyrell was hurt because she actually did really try with Nic,” Martha tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“She really was investing in it and just really wanted Nic to have her back.”

Martha explains that while her husband Michael Brunelli constantly supported her, Nic didn’t do as much for Cyrell.

“Even with the fight that we had –me and Cyrell – when she was saying, ‘Nic, Martha’s husband was by her side and Jess’ husband was by her side, you weren’t by my side?’, I feel like, ‘You know what, she’s right’,” says the reality star.

“He didn’t give a s**t. He wasn’t. He was just in it for himself and I think Cyrell was hurt.”

While Cyrell and Nic’s farewell last night appeared rather civil, it appears the breakup wasn’t as friendly as we might have thought.

During a live radio interview last week, Cyrell lashed out at Nic and accused him of cheating.

“I’ve told you once before and I’ll going to tell you again. If you thought I was the worst wife, you don’t want me as your worst enemy,” she told him on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show.

While Nic nervously laughed in an attempt to settle the heated discussion, Cyrell didn’t stop there.

“Everything will come out and everything is going to show,” she claimed.

“When the moment comes, I will prove you’ve been cheating.”

“While we’re at it, maybe we should throw Mick into this conversation. Let’s see how Mick feels about you.”

Jackie O chimed in at this stage, to clarify if Cyrell was insinuating Nic had cheated on her with Mick Gould’s wife, Jessica Power.

“So Cyrell, you’re saying Nic has slept with Jessika?” asked Jackie.

“No I’m not saying that but we’ll get to…” she trailed off.

Earlier in the season a massive showdown between Cyrell and Martha took place, after a rumour emerged that Nic had rubbed his leg against Jess’ at a dinner party.

Later Jess told Nic she was interested in him, but he rejected her advances and chose to stay with Cyrell.

Married At First Sight continues at 7:30pm on Channel Nine.
