MAFS' Stacey opens up about tragic story behind huge stomach tattoo

Married At First Sight's Stacey Hampton has revealed the heartbreaking story behind her large stomach tattoo.

In a Q&A on YouTube, the mother-of-two, who was recently involved in a cheating scandal on the show, revealed that the tattoo was a tribute for her late brother, who died the day she was due to give birth to her first child.

She revealed that she doesn't like to show it off because it's "very sentimental".

"Everyone keeps asking me about this. I hide my stomach tattoo and I'm getting all my little ones lasered off."

"My stomach tattoo is very sentimental. When my brother died I was pregnant with my firstborn. So after he was born I got a tribute on my stomach."

She explained that the tattoo has her brother's name and the words "forever young".

Stacey went on to say, "I may or may not post a close-up one day, but it's very sentimental to me. Even with bikinis I'll wear a one-piece or put a sarong over it."

She even said that because it's so personal, it makes her feel a "little self-conscious' in public.

While on Michael's homestay in Adelaide on MAFS, Stacey wore a pair of shorts that she pulled up above her waist, perhaps so that the design wasn't visible to TV audiences.

In the YouTube video, Stacey was also asked why she doesn't have a job as a lawyer, despite being able to practise legally.

She revealed that it's because most employers aren't interested hiring her part-time, which is what she's looking for given she's a single mother.

"A lot of people ask why I'm not using my law degree, but not many law firms like to take on people who only want three days a week."

"If I did five days a week then I feel like I'm not being fair on my children and I'm not there for them," she explained.

Stacey added, "Being a single parent has impacted me quite a lot, but I'm also so blessed and wouldn't have my life any other way."

She's previously told the Daily Mail that she has her sights set on a specific field of law.

"I won't do family law. When I was doing my graduate diploma in law I was doing a placement with someone who deals with contracts and copyright - which is what I love. That's what I want to do."

"Family law is so draining, emotionally and mentally. And the fact that I have children, I don't think I could do it. I don't think family law is fair on the children [involved in cases]. I couldn't handle it. I've read some things and it's just not nice."
