MAFS contestant's secret marriage to TV star

A Married at First Sight contestant has had her marriage to a fellow TV star revealed, days before making her on-air debut.

Rosemary Cruickshank is set to appear in the New Zealand version of series from Sunday night but remains legally married to celebrity psychic Kelvin Cruickshank, according to the NZ Herald.

Split but not divorced

Although the couple split in June 2018, 17 months after tying of the knot, they never divorced, despite Rosemary’s now very public attempt to move on.

"[Appearing on MAFS using his surname] has disappointed me no end,” Kelvin told the publication. “I'm a public figure and Rosemary appears to be riding my name to get status for herself.”

The medium has become a household name in New Zealand in recent years after appearing on local murder mystery series Sensing Murder.

However, it must be said that after the legally married, that surname became hers too.

Kelvin went on to claim his ex immediately changed her name after their split and only reverted to his distinctive moniker after applying to the show.

However, Rosemary has a different version of events and said she was required to use her legal name when applying for MAFS.

"Cruickshank... is on my passport and my driver's licence," she told the publication.

"I had to use my legal name... trust me, I actually use my maiden name on social media.

Despite the unease about his ex-wife using his prominence to raise her profile, Kelvin said he has no other issues with Rosemary taking her search for love to the small screen.
