MAFS 2022: Bride's outburst silences dinner party in first look promo

With the premiere of a brand-new season of Married At First Sight on the horizon, Channel Nine has treated fans to a proper first look at the chaotic 'social experiment' ahead.

The two-minute trailer shows the season nine brides and grooms experiencing a true rollercoaster ride of emotions, from tears to tension and tantrums.

It opens with a glimpse at some of the spectacular weddings with a voiceover of an emotional bride baring her soul.

"I'm hopeful that there is a beautiful man standing there and that he falls in love with me," she says.

Next, we get a hint at a potential international flavour when a man with a strong American accent says, "I'm looking for that person who sets my soul on fire".

At that point the promo switches from romance to dry retching when a groom with a self-confessed foot phobia comes face-to-face (or face-to-foot?) with his wife's toes, sending him hurling out of bed.

The temperature reaches boiling point as a brunette bride screams at someone off-camera, presumably her husband, to "stop it!"

In front of the bride are several headshots of men — could this be another attractiveness ranking blow-up as per last season?

Then we come to the most explosive part of the show, the infamous MAFS dinner party where another bride in a cut-out yellow dress pulls no punches in sharing her opinion of her co-stars.

"I'll say it to your face," she says while pointing across the table. "I don't like you and I don't like you!"

And what's a MAFS promo without a dramatic walk-out? This one delivers on a large scale, showing the whole cast making for the exit during a commitment ceremony leaving the experts speechless.

"I've never seen anything like this before," John Aiken admits as Alessandra Rampolla and Mel Schilling look on aghast.

The promo wraps up on a lighter note, with a party-boy groom sculling a beverage from a shoe (which we believe is called a 'shoey') and the foot-phobic groom joking that he'd married a 'psychopath'.

There's also a steamy mid-swim kiss and a bride admitting that she'd like to 'jump' her husband's 'bones'.

Over on social media, MAFS fans were abuzz with the first look trailer and took to the comments section to share their excitement.

"Start the countdown!" exclaimed one while another added, "Can't wait".

MAFS 2022: First look at brides and grooms

MAFS fans got a quick glance at what to expect in 2022 in an epic promo released on Christmas Eve that saw some of the brides and grooms running through the city streets at night.

The cinematic clip focuses on one couple in particular who share a romantic kiss on a rooftop as fireworks go off in the background, no doubt hinting at the explosive drama to come.

But, as it turns out, that couple isn't actually appearing on the show because they are already married in real life.

Musicians and former X Factor stars Jess and Matt Price were given the lead in the promo due to Covid safety measures preventing the actual contestants from getting too close and personal during the shoot.
