Madonna rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive

The singer was in the ICU after developing a serious bacterial infection.

Madonna was rushed to hospital in New York City after being found unresponsive on Saturday, with the singer spending several days in the ICU.

The 64-year-old singer was intubated for at least one night before having the tube removed, Page Six reports, with the singer now alert and recovering.

The publication reports that she is now out of the ICU and recovering with her daughter Lourdes Leon by her side.

Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, took to Instagram to share details of the hospital visit, writing: "On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.

"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected."

He continued, sharing that her worldwide Celebration tour will need to be 'paused' and that he will share new dates soon.

Madonna's last Instagram post was shared a week ago as she prepared for the tour, with the caption reading, "The Calm Before The Storm..."

Fans shared messages of support for the singer on the post, with one user writing, "We love you! Hoping for a fast recovery."

"The whole world needs you, please be well, we need your good health again, I'm crying a lot! We need you," another added.

"Get well soon Madonna... we need you," a third wrote.

The singer is set to perform a worldwide greatest hits tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her song Holiday.

"I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for," she told Page Six in January.
