Madonna 'strenuously rehearsing' 12 hours a day for tour before hospitalisation

The singer was hospitalised for several days after being found unresponsive.

Madonna was reportedly 'strenuously rehearsing' for 12 hours a day ahead of her Celebration world tour before she was hospitalised with a 'serious bacterial infection' on Saturday.

According to new reports, the 64-year-old was putting in long hours at Long Island's Nassau Coliseum for weeks before she was found unresponsive.

"She had been putting in 12-hour days. She was strenuously rehearsing and putting in the work," an insider told Page Six.

The singer spent several days in the ICU and is now said to be alert and recovering with her daughter, Lourdes Leon, by her side.

Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, took to Instagram to share details of the hospital visit, writing: "On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.

"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected."

He continued, sharing that her worldwide Celebration tour will need to be 'paused' and that he will share new dates soon.

Zooey Deschanel commented on the post, writing, "Hope she feels better very soon!"

"Sending her so much love from us," Isla Fisher added.

"Sending Madonna my prayers for a speedy recovery," Rita Wilson said.

Madonna's last Instagram post was shared a week ago as she prepared for the tour, with the caption reading, "The Calm Before The Storm..."

The singer is set to perform a worldwide greatest hits tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her song Holiday.

"I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for," she told Page Six in January.
