“With Love” Star Desmond Chiam Has ‘Long Delayed’ Wedding Ceremony 9 Years After Marrying Wife in Vegas
“This lady is my fiercest protector," the 'Mortal Kombat 2' actor said of his longtime love
Congratulations are in order for Desmond Chiam and his wife Samantha de Castro!
Nearly a decade after tying the knot in Las Vegas, the With Love actor, 37, and de Castro have said their “I do”’s in a more formal ceremony.
“We got married y'all! Again!” he began in a caption to an Instagram carousel on Monday, Sept. 23. The first two photos showed the bride and groom standing together during their shoot.
“The first time was in Vegas 9 years ago, but this year we pulled the trigger on our long delayed ceremony. Thank you for the amazing photos @wanderedstories,” Chiam continued.
As the pictures went on, there was one of the couple at the altar, presumably reciting their vows as de Castro held a microphone in one hand and notes in the other while facing Chiam — who was making a “rocker” gesture with one of his hands.
Next, the Reef Break actor discussed their history and the road leading up to how they became husband and wife.
“This lady is my fiercest protector, a shoulder strong to stand on, and soft to find comfort,” he wrote. “We've been together for 16 years, 5 of those long distance, and while it's not been easy, it's always been right.”
“I love you @the.sami.jayne. And in that love, as has been true of every day of the last 16 years, you will find me, and I will find you, and so on, and so on, and so on - such that our discoveries may fill a universe,” Chiam concluded.
Other photos showed the Joy Ride alum and de Castro playfully posing in a dueling mode in front of their wedding cake, as well as dancing in front of their guests.
While he only has eyes for his wife, there are plenty of fans in the DMs who sometimes try their luck, Chaim told PEOPLE at the One House and Macro Toast to the Emmys earlier this month.
"If they slide into the DMs sometimes you can't avoid them, they're just there. And it's like 'Oh, that's a thought you had that you sent out into the universe.' And hey, if it's a positive one, I appreciate it,” he said.
Chiam’s next project is taking on the role of King Jerrod in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Mortal Kombat 2, which is set to be released in October 2025.

He also spoke to PEOPLE about what it was like training for his character.
“We got to train with a lot of weapons, which is something I haven't done a lot. We got to play with swords, staves, a big a-- hammer that some of the characters have. It was difficult because we have a lot going on in the movie,” Chiam said.
“It's been so fun,” he added of having a variation of recent roles.
“I love the art that we're doing and there's no better way for me to experience it than exploring the edges of whatever 'range' that I have,” Chiam told PEOPLE. “I get to do himbo in Joyride or the heart-of-gold guy in With Love. And with Mortal Kombat coming out, I get to play a king with regal status.”
