Lizzo Reaches Major Milestone in Health Journey
Lizzo has been documenting her health journey on social media for a long time, telling fans about her experience exploring a plant-based diet, posting photos of herself in workout gear, and even addressing speculation that she is using weight loss medicine.
Now, the “Truth Hurts” singer is sharing that she reached a major milestone, prompting fans to congratulate her for all of her hard work.
In an Instagram post on Jan. 25, the musician said, “I did it. Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal.” She continued, sharing, “ I haven’t seen this number since 2014!”

The caption accompanied two mirror selfies of Lizzo in burgundy leggings and a matching sports bra. In the first photo, she overlaid an image from what appears to be a fitness or weight loss app that shows an arrow hitting the bullseye of a target with “Congratulations! You’ve met your weight goals” written above it.
In the second photo, which zooms in on her torso, an image, likely from the same app, gives more insight into her health journey. The image shows that the musician reached both her weight and body fat goals that were set on Jan. 16, 2023. It also said she dropped 10.5 body mass index (BMI) points and 16% body fat.
The body mass index was created in the 1800s to determine obesity rates in a population as a whole, using individuals’ heights and weights to determine where they fall on a numerical scale. Health experts now say that, while it can be an effective screening tool, it is not a direct indicator of individual health.
Fans praised Lizzo in the comments for her success, writing, “Well done!!! You look amazing,” and “Loooking good!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
More commented that they were inspired by her, calling her a “Queen!! Absolutely slaying at ANY shape and size.🔥🔥🔥,” and “Flawless at any size 💎.”
Lizzo ended her post by encouraging fans to pursue their goals while hinting that she’s not done in the self-improvement space. “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!” she concluded.
