Mum’s the word as Baby Sussex’s arrival creeps ever closer, and we’re not just talking about the due date.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have kept the details of the pregnancy and imminent birth firmly under wraps, but one person who has surely been in on the secrecy is Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.

The royal mum-to-be and her own mother have always had a close bond, but just how close may come as a shock; the royal couple are reportedly renovating one of Frogmore Cottage’s outhouses into a cosy cottage exclusively for Meghan’s mum to stay in when she visits.

Council documents obtained by The Express have revealed the outhouse renovation, as well as a total estimated spend of over AUD$5.5 million on the renovation efforts on Harry and Meghan’s historic Frogmore Cottage.

Earlier reports by Vanity Fair quoted a source who hinted at the renovations, and pointed to the likelihood of Doria settling in as a semi-permanent guest.

“Doria plans to be around a lot when the baby arrives, and there are plans for her to have a dedicated space at their new home,” the source said.

‘She wants to be on hand to help Meghan and Harry with the baby.”

However a source quoted by The Mirror more recently claimed that while the grandma-to-be will obviously be on hand, she won’t stick around indefinitely.

The former social worker was once described by her daughter as ‘a free-spirited clinical therapist’ and her own commitments will reportedly bring her back home to LA sooner rather than later.

“Doria should be here for the birth and will be staying,” the source reportedly said. “But then she has to get back to her dogs and work.”

The couple have set tongues wagging with the extensive renovations they had commissioned for Frogmore cottage, including a rumoured yoga room featuring a ‘floating floor’ to minimise injuries.

The source also confirmed that Meghan had thrown herself wholeheartedly into the renovation efforts, adding some home touches.

“Harry and Meghan want to make Frogmore as homely as possible and Meghan has brought over a lot of posters,” they said.
