Lincoln Younes and Claude Jabbour reveal painful on-set mishap
New episodes of Paramount+ show Last King of the Cross are released each Friday.
Aussie viewers were introduced to John and Sam Ibrahim last week in the Paramount+ drama Last King of the Cross. The ‘gritty’ TV show is a fictionalised retelling of the Lebanese family’s hold over Sydney’s Kings Cross spanning three decades from 1970.
The dark show explores underworld dealings, with storylines involving violence, sex and drugs. From the very first episode released last Friday, fans have seen first-hand how action-packed the series is.
In a chat with Yahoo Lifestyle, former Home and Away star Lincoln Younes and Claude Jabbour, who play John and Sam, revealed that the pair had to undergo fight training to prepare for their physically demanding roles.
When asked if the on-screen brothers did their own stunts, or if they had stunt doubles, the pair erupt into laughter.
“We definitely did our own stunts. Some of us did it quite intensely,” Lincoln says, before Claude tells us a behind-the-scenes secret.
“I had an experience where I actually went so intensely into the scene that I punched a wall…I punched a little bit too hard and damaged my hand in the process,” he recalls, adding that he didn’t break character even with all the pain.

“[He] kept going, hopefully that’s in the series,” Lincoln adds. “What was really interesting about it was, it was scripted. And they put in a fake wall, which was padded, and Claude punched it so hard that he went though the fake wall and hit the real wall.”
Claude looks sheepish as he admits his technique might not have been the best, but Lincoln assures him he was just taking on a form of method acting.
“You got very into it, and I don’t want you to punch me,” the Home and Away star quips.
What is the Last King of the Cross about?
The 10-episode television drama tells the story of nightclub owner John Ibrahim, who was colloquially known as “The King of the Cross”, due to his control over the Sydney strip.
The series is inspired by John’s autobiography, and while the stars assert the show is fiction, the infamous Lebanese businessman is involved in a producer capacity.
John has been chased by the police for decades, with cops filing constant investigations into his alleged illegal doings. However, he hasn’t been convicted for any crimes.
Viewers can expect a dark, confronting drama with John and Sam’s relationship at the heart of the story.
Lincoln and Claude’s bizarre moment
The chemistry between the actors is clear, with Lincoln and Claude falling into a natural banter during our interview. While they couldn’t think of any pranks they played on each other, a hilarious moment they shared on-set comes to mind.
The Last King of the Cross famously spent a huge part of their $50 million budget recreating the iconic Kings Cross strip from the 1980s and 1990s, and the pair confirm that it felt extremely real.
“The set played a prank on us,” Lincoln remembers, before Claude explains they attempted to buy a kebab from one of the fake kebab shops.
“[It was] obviously only full of prop food. We found that quite funny,” he tells us.
“It’s amazing what happens at 2:00am when you’re hungry and delirious. Fake kebabs look good. It’s like you can smell them,” Lincoln jokes.
