The Bachelor's Locky Gilbert reveals sweet reason behind baby name

Reality stars Locky and Irena Gilbert (née Srbinovska) have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl Ava Aleksandra Gilbert who was born on the 23rd of February.

The couple met on the 2020 season of The Bachelor and married in March 2023, before announcing their pregnancy news in September last year.

"2023 has been a year of surprises, and now Locky and I are thrilled to share the biggest surprise of our lives—anticipating a new member in our family," they captioned the post.

The couple have been candid in the past about their fertility journey, sharing in 2021 that Irena suffered from a miscarriage not long after they got together. Irena also shared last year that the couple experienced another miscarriage not long after their wedding.

“We’ve been trying to get pregnant and trying to start our family and we were absolutely over the moon when we found out we were pregnant last month,” she told 7Life.

“Unfortunately, a week later we suffered a miscarriage, and. . . it was emotional, hard and obviously heartbreaking."

Now the happy parents have introduced baby Ava to the world, and Locky spoke to Yahoo Lifestyle about the meaning behind his newborn daughter's sweet name.

"It’s been such a joy," he said of parenthood. "Mum and Bub are doing great. [The] reason behind Ava we just love the name, but the reason behind Aleksandra is that it is Irena’s paternal grandmother's name, who passed when Irena was a child, however, Irena had a very special connection with her."

Locky took to Instagram after the birth of baby Ava to upload a tongue-in-cheek 'hotel review' about the birth, labelling his daughter the couple's new roommate.

"Best vacation ever," he captioned the video. "Irena enjoyed the hotel activities, made a new friend, all we did was eat and sleep, we will most likely catch up again soon. Would recommend, 5 stars."
