If you've ever wondered what cleaning products a professional cleaner swears by then you have come to the right place. One pro has the answer! Hailey McNicol, Professional Cleaner and Director of Proper Cleaning Group, recently went on a shopping spree at Bunnings and shared her top picks on TikTok. These could be the game-changers that leave your house looking and smelling squeaky clean.

With her extensive experience in end-of-lease and commercial cleaning, Hailey knows exactly what it takes to keep homes spotless. “We’ve been faced with many different cleaning scenarios, different finishes, different appliances, and we select products for our business that are versatile and can be used on most surfaces!” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

As living costs rise, Hailey was keen to share her professional-grade cleaning tips to help people achieve a sparkling finish in their own homes. “I wanted to give people the opportunity to have their own experience of a professional clean,” she explains.

“Running a cleaning business, I need products in caddies that are easy to use, lift buildup quickly, are cost-effective, and smell amazing. It’s all about the customer experience for us. Clients notice the smell first and the actual clean second.”

These are the Bunnings gems Hailey says are the “stand outs” worth adding to your cart.

In the kitchen, Hailey swears by Selley's Oven Clean for tackling baked-on grime. After trying every oven cleaner on the market, she insists this one is the best by far.

"It's definitely strong, but it strips," she reveals, advising users to let the product do the work. "Nothing strips as well as this."

For caked-on messes, Hailey recommends the Hillmark Ceramic Cooktop Scraper, which costs $10.99. She considers this tool a "must-have" in every cleaning caddy, as it's perfect for scraping off stubborn residue on stoves and cooktops.

And when it comes to versatile cleaning solutions, Hailey relies on Fairy Dishwashing Liquid. She uses it for everything, noting that when diluted with water, it’s great for bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere with build-up.

"This stuff is so versatile and cost-effective!" she said.

When it comes to bathroom cleaning, Hailey swears by Harpic Toilet Cleaner to keep toilets sparkling clean.

Her tip for the best results? “Remember to squirt from under the rim for optimum clean and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes, leaving the toilet smelling fresh."

For tackling mould, Hailey's go-to product is Selley’s Rapid Mould Killer.

“Any type of mould build-up, this is the best on the market,” she asserts. Hailey explained to Yahoo Lifestyle that this product turns mould white quicker than any other she's used. As part of her routine, she applies mould killer at the end of a shower clean and advises clients to avoid running water for a few hours afterward.

If, like the rest of us, your bathroom grout is looking grimy, Hailey highly recommends the Longlife Grout Cleaner, paired with an inexpensive grout brush.

“The Longlife grout cleaner is incredible,” she enthuses. "Bathroom grout often gets neglected, but this cleaner, along with a grout brush, lifts discolouration before your eyes."

She suggests spraying the grout generously and allowing the product to sit for at least five minutes before scrubbing. In more challenging cases, Hailey advises repeating the process twice.

For those dealing with limescale build-up, Hailey recommends Scalex Heavy Duty Home Descaler.

“It’s incredible for that build-up at the bottom of the toilet,” she notes, mentioning that this is the most common question she gets from people wanting to improve their bathroom cleaning game.

For a polished finish on stainless steel, Hailey turns to Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser and Polish. Depending on the surface, she advises it can be used as a paste or a watery solution to bring back that almost-new look.

When it comes to freshening up carpets, Hailey's go-to is No Vac Carpet Cleaner. It’s a quick and easy solution for maintaining carpets without needing a vacuum, and Hailey particularly loves the scent it leaves behind.

"This is purely used for the beautiful scent we love to leave in people's homes," she told Yahoo Lifestyle. She pairs it with a lavender-scented multipurpose surface cleaner for mopping, saying, "The two just work together and leave a professional clean smell. Clients know we have been as soon as they open their door!"

For effective mopping, Hailey points out the importance of a reliable, heavy-duty mop bucket, available for $44.98. “This lasts forever,” she assures. To pair with the bucket, she recommends the Sabco 450-gram Mop Head.

"You need weight to your mop head to really lift grime or build-up on the floor," Hailey explains, noting that the 450-gram option is perfect for residential homes, while a 600-gram mop head might be better suited for commercial spaces.

In addition to these essentials, Hailey also recommends a few other budget-friendly tools. A Morgan 1L Spray Bottle, priced at $3.49, is a must-have for mixing and applying various cleaning solutions and, for just $2.00, a simple squeegee is a great tool to keep windows and shower screens streak-free.

Last but not least, Hailey’s pick of microfibre cloths - which work out to be the unbeatable price of just 50c each. “These are my favourites,” she says. "Cost effective at $10 for 20 cloths these cloths are used to dry polish all finishes."

And Hailey's pro-tip? "Colour code to ensure each room has its own set! Don't cross-contaminate colours in different rooms! Give the Bathroom, Kitchen, Dusting etc their own colours."
