It isn't the first time the Aldi gratins have been compared to a KFC feast. One TikTok user praised the delectable treats last year and credited them to helping her create her own 'fakeaway' KFC dinner, using the spinach and ricotta gratins. "These are soooo good," she said. "I need to learn how to make them from scratch!"

Other Aldi fans weren't quite as sold on the treats.

"Mum tried these - took one bite and the rest went into the bin," one person said. "They are awful the original ones are the best," another person commented.

"Maybe yum but poor star rating," another health-conscious person pointed out.
