A Canberra stranger’s random act of kindness has completely restored our faith in humanity.

An unknown mum was spending time in hospital with her sick, nine-week-old son before returning to the carpark.

The mother was in hospital for a few days with her baby and realised she had been slapped with a parking fine.

But attached to the fine was a note that will melt your heart.

It read: "I saw your car had a parking ticket on it. I'm sure whatever you are going through at hospital is tough enough so I paid for you. Hope things get better."

The note was simply signed “Laura”.

The grateful mum shared her story on the Canberra Mums Facebook page and it soon went viral.

"After those days in hospital, a parking ticket was one more thing that I didn't need," she wrote. "Well to my surprise, when I opened the envelope there was a note from a lovely lady named Laura. I hope that Laura sees this and knows how much I appreciate her support. Thank you so much."
