Liam Payne's Funeral Details Are Being Set

The One Direction singer passed away on October 26, 2024.

Following Liam Payne's sudden death last month, The Sun reports that the singer's funeral arrangements are underway. According to the publication, Payne's body is set to arrive in the United Kingdom within the next 48 hours, per Argentinian newspaper La Nacion. Payne is set to be interred at St Paul's Cathedral in Wolverhampton. So far, there hasn't been an announcement about a public ceremony.

Payne passed away at age 31. An autopsy revealed that he sustained 25 injuries in the fall from the balcony that killed him. An investigation following his death has taken two weeks, which is why his body is only now being transported to England. Following an investigation, prosecutors shared that they believe Payne was "in a state of semi or total unconsciousness" due to substance abuse, which caused his fall.

Following Payne's death, fans created tributes to him around the globe, including in his home country as well as in Argentina and Germany. His former bandmates shared sweet messages after his passing, mentioning the brotherhood that they'd forged when they were teenagers and thrust into the spotlight following the success of One Direction.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly," a post from his former bandmates read. "The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”

Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan mentioned that they would watch over Payne's son, Bear, and Harry Styles's emotional note mentioned the time they spent together and the memories that they'd made.
