Lego Masters: Wippa's 'biggest rival' is The Block's Scott Cam
It's supposed to be all about fun and the festive spirit, but LEGO Masters Bricksmas Special celebrity contestant Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli isn't messing around.
The Nova radio star tells Yahoo Lifestyle that he's sized up his fellow builders — Scott Cam, Sophie Monk and Brooke Boney — and has honed in on his biggest competition.
And there's a lot at stake in this two-part silly season special, namely the honour of creating the best and most magical Christmas build.
According to Wippa, there's only one serious rival and that's The Block host and certified builder, Scotty Cam.
"I feel like this is builder to builder," Wippa says. "I did a building course as a kid but Scotty has, of course, got many years in the trade and on the tools."
The father-of-three reckons beating Scott — who was discovered by a TV producer over two decades ago while working as a carpenter — will be a "real battle" due to his ability to see the big picture.

"To be a good builder you need to have that vision and Scotty has got that," he says.
Today host Brooke Boney is Wippa's pick for a surprise contender — "She's really good," he says — but Sophie Monk, it seems, is out of luck when it comes to LEGO.
"She's a great singer, a great TV host... I haven't been so far too impressed with Soph's LEGO builds. But I love her all the same," Wippa says.
Wippa talks a big game but he put his money where his mouth is in part one of the Channel Nine special, presenting a glorious Christmas window display to host Hamish Blake and judge Ryan 'Brickman' McNaught.
The question is, how much of the build — which featured a moving train set and Santa's legs dangling from the chimney — was Wippa's own doing and how much was the work of returning LEGO Masters contestant Stani?
"I was really, really busy," he deadpans. "I mean, that was a 30-hour build or a 20-hour build and I can't even remember I was working so hard."
Despite having honed his LEGO skills at home with his three kids, Wippa says he 'learned very quickly' from his expert partner Stani.
"I took his lead and when he said 'jump' I said 'how high?' and together, probably a 50-50 effort, we built something beautiful."
LEGO Masters Bricksmas Special continues 7pm Sunday, November 28 on Channel Nine and 9Now.
