“Lift Every Voice and Sing” has been part of the Super Bowl’s pregame performance lineup since 2021, when Alicia Keys sang the hymn. Subsequent performers have included Mary Mary (in 2022), Sheryl Lee Ralph (in 2023) and Andra Day (in 2024).
Ledisi has released 11 studio albums since 2000, largely in the R&B genre, and in 2021, she won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance (for her song “Anything for You”). She’s received 13 other Grammy nominations throughout her career, as well as nods from the BET Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
Elsewhere at the Super Bowl LIX pregame, Jon Batiste performed the national anthem, while Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle gave us their rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
