Lana Del Rey Offers Strong Opinion on Taylor Swift's Success

Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift

Lana Del Rey is giving her two cents about good friend Taylor Swift, and how she thinks the superstar has managed to make her "Wildest Dreams" come true.

Del Rey—a longtime gal pal of the "Fortnight" singer—recently spoke to BBC News about why she thinks Swift, 34, has become so huge in recent years, and according to the "Summertime Sadness" songstress, the answer is simple.

"She wants it," Del Rey, 38, told the British outlet in an article published on Thursday, June 6. "She’s told me so many times that she wants it more than anyone."

"And how amazing," she continued, noting that Swift is "getting exactly what she wants."

“She’s driven, and I think it’s really paid off," added Del Rey, who collaborated with Swift on her 2022 Midnights album, where she's featured on the track "Snow on the Beach."

And surely Del Rey isn't the only one to take notice of Swift's focus and ambition when it comes to her career, as the 14-time Grammy winner has proven herself a "Mastermind," especially over the past year.

After breaking records with her international Eras Tour in 2023, Swift went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammys at the start of this year, where she became the first artist to ever win the award four times. She also announced her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, during the 2024 Grammy's live broadcast.

The new album, which released in April, immediately crushed streaming records, becoming the first album to ever surpass 1 billion Spotify streams in a single week, per Billboard.

She has since added whole new set to her live show, now featuring seven tracks from the 31-song double album, which Swift continues to play in sold-out shows amid the history-making tour.

Currently, the "Cruel Summer" songstress is on the European leg of the tour, performing this upcoming weekend in Edinburg, Scotland, before heading to Liverpool, England next.
