Lady Gaga Wows Los Angeles With Surprise New Song For FireAid Benefit
Lady Gaga closed a star-studded FireAid benefit concert early Friday morning by debuting a new song made especially for the occasion.
The music superstar got behind a piano where she performed “Shallow” and “Always Remember Us This Way” from the soundtrack to “A Star Is Born” before revealing that she had a new track up her sleeves at the massive event that raised money for those impacted by the devastating Los Angeleswildfires.
“When I was thinking about what to sing tonight I thought I wanted to do something hopeful for you and I was thinking about my songs and there wasn’t anything that seemed quite right,” Gaga told the crowd at the Intuit Dome.
The singer then revealed that she wrote a song with her fiancé Michael Polansky “just for tonight ... just for you.”
“I think we all need a lot of things right now but I think something we may also need is time, time is a healer,” she said before breaking into the number.
Her piano-driven tune included the lyrics “you’ve been putting up with harder days” as she emphasized not to worry, with hopes she’ll turn a “storm around” or, if it wasn’t possible, to “find a different way.”
“All I need is time, all I need is time, all I need is time to cure my broken wings and then I’ll soar,” she sang.
“All I need is time, to leave it all behind, all I need is time to leave it all behind and keep moving forward.”
Gaga received waves of cheers and applause from the crowd at the massive musical event which also featured performances by Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and Olivia Rodrigo along with a surprise Nirvana reunion featuring St. Vincent, Joan Jett, Kim Gordon and Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl.
