Lady Gaga Performs ‘Hold My Hand’ on Bourbon Street at the Super Bowl
Fresh off her Grammy win, Lady Gaga headed to New Orleans for the Super Bowl where she performed an emotional rendition of “Hold My Hand.”
Gaga performed the song on Bourbon Street as a tribute to the victims of the New Year’s attack which left 14 people dead. Gaga, who played piano during her performance, was joined by a full band and choir. Louisiana State Police troopers, New Orleans police officers, first responders and law enforcement were given a front-row view. Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Michael Strahan were also featured in the tribute, which served as an introduction to the broadcast.

“Hold My Hand” was featured at the end of 2022’s blockbuster film “Top Gun: Maverick” in its emotional ending. The song was nominated for a Grammy and Golden Globe.
Earlier this week, Caballero Casting had called for background extras to be a part of the segment. The Facebook post said, “FOX will be producing a piece on Bourbon Street, this special segment will pay tribute to the tragic events that happened on Bourbon St. New Year’s morning. We are looking for people to join us to help us make this moment special.”
Gaga’s Super Bowl LIX comes days after she released her latest single “Abracadabra” and performed “California Dreamin'” with Bruno Mars at last week’s Grammy Awards.
Prior to that, she appeared at FireAid in Los Angeles, premiering “All I Need Is Time.” Gaga said she had co-written the number with her fiance Michael Polansky, and she wanted an upbeat tune that she said was “just for tonight.” The song was written especially for the telecast.
Next up, Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album, “Mayhem.” Gaga previously released two other singles from the forthcoming 14-track album — “Disease,” which came out in December, preceded by the Mars collaboration “Die With a Smile,” from last August.
In a press announcement last week, Gaga said, “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” and she additionally noted that it represents her “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
