Kylie Minogue, 51, choked back tears during her performance at Glastonbury music festival in the UK on Sunday.

The Aussie singing superstar was overcome with emotion as she revealed the heartbreaking reason behind her sadness.

"In 2005 I was meant to be here," she told the crowd. "Circumstances meant that I did not make it."

Those ‘circumstances’ were the Grammy Award-winner’s breast cancer diagnosis 14 years ago which forced her to cancel her headline slot.

With her fans chanting her name, the ‘Spinning Around’ star took a moment to pull herself together before sharing how she'd watched the festival from her home.

"I wished things were different - but life is what it is,” she said.

"We're all here in this moment.”

The pint-sized performer put on an incredible show for the 100,000-strong crowd, belting out a mix of her classic hits and newer releases including ‘Locomotion’ and ‘Dancing’ from her 2018 album, Golden.

"Do I even need to sing?" she asked during ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ as the crowd sang every word.

The 75-minute set saw the musical icon change outfits not once but four times. She rocked a red boiler suit, a glittery gold shift dress and a white suit by her designer pal Stella McCartney.

Kylie was also joined by surprise special guests Chris Martin - for a flamenco-tinged rendition of ‘Can't Get You Out Of My Head’ and fellow Aussie Nick Cave, for their 1995 gothic track ‘Wild Rose’.

"You're giving me the chills,” she admitted to concertgoers at one point - and we think the feeling was mutual.

Kylie’s breast cancer battle

The former Neighbour’s star was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 36 in May 2005, prompting her to pull out of Glastonbury and postpone her ‘Showgirl – The Greatest Hits Tour’.

Just weeks after the shock news, Kylie underwent surgery and began chemotherapy. She was given the all-clear in January 2006.

The singer celebrated her recovery by releasing a new perfume and a children’s book, The Showgirl Princess.
