Kylie Minogue guarded by police with submachine guns

Kylie Minogue was guarded by police with submachine guns at her concert on Tuesday night.

The pint-sized popstar was due to perform in Cologne in front of a packed audience when a security threat was received.

“The concert organiser approached us about a possible threat scenario resulting from social media,” a police spokesman told dpa, according to SBS.

“We can’t remain idle with something like that.”

According to reports, around 20 heavily-armed police checked male concert-goers’ identification, after placing a picture of a man at the entrance to the venue.

The 50-year-old’s concert is said to have gone off without a hitch, with fans taking to social media to gush over the Australian’s performance.

“Great show in Cologne really enjoyed love Kylie,” one person said.

Kylie took to her Twitter account after the concert to thank her team for their dedication to the tour.

“Thank you team for another three shows in a row. You are digging deep. Thanks also to all of you in the crowd each night. You give us strength,” she wrote.

The security scare comes just days after Kylie revealed things are “going great” in her personal life, with new beau Paul Solomons.

“It’s going great, it’s fabulous. Just when you think that ‘will it ever happen?’… it came and surprised me,” the Love At First Sight hitmaker said on The Jonathan Ross Show.

The couple made their red carpet debut at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in September.

They walked hand-in-hand as Kylie told reporters: “I’ve found my man. Of the year. And some.”

The Australian pop star – who was first rumoured to be romancing the hunk back in April – is letting her man share her West London pad.

A source said: “It’s a big step but they’re going from strength to strength. Kylie has finally found happiness.”
