Kyle and Jackie O furiously walk off radio show: 'Too dangerous'

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson both stormed out of their radio show and went home early on Friday morning after an undisclosed incident caused chaos in the studio.

The on-air duo were chatting with former radio broadcaster Alan Jones about luxury cars and expensive homes when the interview was suddenly cut off and listeners heard a pre-recorded alert.

The message explained that the broadcast had been ‘dumped’, meaning that “someone said something inappropriate and is currently getting in trouble”.

Listeners then heard over 15 minutes of songs and ads before Kyle and Jackie returned and expressed their confusion over the incident.

They explained that the censor’s job on the show was to bleep any swear words or anything that could “land someone in legal trouble”, which they acknowledged happens a lot for them because they are “a bit loosey-goosey”.

“If it’s a beep, it’s fine, but if it’s a dump, it’s a different story altogether,” Jackie added.

“Because of the nature of the way the dump button works, you probably hadn’t heard where it got dumped… So you’re probably hearing something getting dumped thinking, ‘They weren't saying anything’, but it was what happened after that.”

“And it wasn’t a big deal as far as I’m concerned, but -” Kyle chimed in before he was quickly cut off with censored bleeps for 12 seconds.

'This is a very big situation'

Jackie then admitted she was “confused” as to why they were dumped and she had no idea what was going on “in this situation”, which she labelled as a “miscommunication”.

“I’ve spoken quickly to my lawyer because this is a very big situation,” Kyle said.

“The communication, when it breaks down internally, anything can happen. So it's too dangerous for me. My lawyer said, ‘Pull yourself off the air until everyone’s singing from the same hymn book’.

“It's no good telling me and Jackie one thing and telling the staff -” he continued before he was once again censored.

Jackie added: “How were we ever going to know? Communication is key in these situations.”

The pair finally said they were both turning off their microphones and going home, leaving listeners even more confused about the incident.
