Kmart unveils new living range including $49 dupe of designer lamp

Kmart has a new must-have homewares product and everyone from professional stylists to home DIY enthusiasts wants a piece of it.

Hitting shelves as part of the new February living range, the new $49 Gigi Floor Lamp has shoppers racing in to snap one up.

And it’s not the budget price that Kmart fans love, it's the fact that it looks almost identical to a $300 designer lamp.

The budget retailer's version is made with a marble base, metal stand and Polyester pleated shade. The feature of the lamp is the curved stand.

An almost identical version is the Achie Mid-Century Floor Lamp available from Aussie furniture retailer Lifely.

And so far, shoppers are dying to get their hands on one with the piece already sold out online.

“Kmart’s Gigi floor lamp. I'm in love,” celebrated interior decorator Zoe Gilpin who runs the popular Instagram page DIY Decorator wrote to her 158,000 followers.

After TikToker Isabel da Silva who runs the page @izdasilva shared the new find describing it as “just gorg!” to her followers, her short video was inundated with others wanting to pick one up too.

“Oh my! I just ordered it. Chefs kiss Kmart!” One person commented.

“Ohhhh I want, in fact, I need! Hope Kmart nz have it,” added another.

“Omg beautiful and it’s from Kmart,” a third said.

The 'perfect lamp'

According to the Kmart website, it’s an “elegant and classy” element that works perfectly in the living room or bedroom.

Meanwhile, DIY enthusiasts have already had a go at hacking the lamp to match their decor. Tiffany Donaldson, who runs the Instagram page home.style.by.tiff knew exactly how she wanted to hack the lamo as soon as she saw it.

Explaining that she'd seen other similar lamps in black with huge price tags, she wanted to give it a simple upgrade to match her home decor.

"I have been waiting anxiously to get my hands on this beautiful Gigi Floor Lamp," she said.

"I have been looking around at identical floor lamps in black with price tags far exceeding my budget so for $49 and a bit of spray paint, I’m not complaining. It’s the perfect addition to my home office space."

There are other new products too

If you've noticed some other fresh homewares appearing on the shelves at Kmart, you're right – the store has recently released its latest February living range.

Shoppers have already started spotting new items trickling into stores with a focus on neutral tones and earthy textures. The range features strong global homewares trends too including wave silhouettes, painted ceramics and warm textures.

Some of the other stand-out products include the $10 wave cushion, the already popular $35 Gingham Ruffle Cotton Quilt Cover Set, $10 Olive Popcorn Cotton Bath Towel, the $12 Resin Serve Bowl and the $8 Beige Felt Tubs.
