Kmart shoppers rave about $59 dupe that's 'better' than $679 Dyson: 'Never ordered something faster'

Shoppers are flocking to Kmart to get their hands on the hottest beauty tool that costs just $59. The Dyson Airwrap took the world by storm when it hit shelves in 2018, and I've always wanted to get my hands on one.

It seems like a magical tool, able to curl your hair perfectly while also minimising damage – but at the eye-watering price of $679, I've never quite been able to commit to purchasing the beauty item. Luckily, Kmart's $59 Air Styler appears to do the same job as the Dyson Airwrap, with some shoppers convinced that it does a better job than the more expensive brand.

With the current cost of living crisis, a saving of over $600 isn't something to sneeze at. The budget retailer’s dupe is so much cheaper than other dupes on the market – the Shark FlexStyle Air Styler is still a hefty $399 – and a TikToker has tried it out and given it rave reviews. She’s convinced me (and many others) to purchase the dupe instantly by showing off how well the tool works and what the finished curls look like.

The TikToker, who goes by @britlea95 on the platform, actually purchased the item as soon as it was available, for a slightly higher price of $69. It’s now listed on Kmart’s website for $59.

“I bought it [for] $69, let’s try it out! I’ve never used a real Dyson so it might go bad,” she said, before curling all of her hair.

She soon discovered that the Kmart Air Styler works better on damp hair, so she added a little spritz of water.

“Learning curve, it wraps easier when it’s wet,” she said. “I think we can safely say it works like a Dyson.

“This is the finished result for now… I like how it’s looking from the front, it’s very 90s blowout vibes,” she told her followers. “For $69, I can’t say no. ‘Cause I’m never going to pay the amount for the Dyson, or even any of the dupes, because they’re so expensive.”

The TikToker also added that after her housemates saw her hair in person, they all went and placed orders at Kmart for the beauty tool.

Her video has racked up almost a million views, and she followed it up with a video showing off how her curls had lasted two hours later, saying she was “obsessed”.

One follower who owns a Dyson Air Wrap praised the tool in the comments, saying: “Your hair looks amazing. I even sent this video to my friend who [has been] thinking of buying an Air Wrap!”

“This actually looks like it curls even better than the Dyson!” another commented.

“I was waiting for this day!! I knew Anko was working hard in the labs making this,” a third remarked.

“I feel like it’s giving old Hollywood curl vibes. I’m gonna have to somehow get my hands on one of these,” another added.

“I’ve never ordered something faster in my life,” a TikToker admitted.

"Consider me influenced cos I just bought one online," added another.

The item was sold out on Sunday evening, but a restock allowed a bunch of lucky shoppers to get their orders in on Monday. As of right now, it’s sold out again, but with demand this high, Kmart will hopefully be restocking regularly.
