If you’re a pet owner then you’ll know the feeling of wanting to spend 24/7 with your fur baby. While work commitments and travel plans often require you to leave your pet at home, the next best thing to spending time with them IRL is being able to check in on them whenever you want.

Kmart is helping shoppers do exactly this with its $45 Smart Wi-Fi Pan and Tilt Indoor Camera, which allows you to watch a 1080P HD live stream via an app on your smartphone or tablet. The gadget also has two-way audio between your phone and the camera, LED infrared night vision up to 10m, and motion detection with auto tracking.

It can pan 355 degrees around the room and tilt 90 degrees, and you can record footage using a micro SD card - although this isn’t included.

Others quickly took to the comments to say the gadget “works perfectly” and is a great option for pet owners to keep an eye on their furry friends.

“These are great, we set some of them up in our house when we were overseas so we could watch our cats,” one person shared, while another added, “I use this for my puppy-cam when I'm not at home. It's pretty good for the price”.

“I use mine to watch my dog as he gets up to mischief. I’ve had to go home a few times due to him chewing TV remotes etc,” someone else wrote, followed by a different user who said, “This is incredible for the price. Crystal clear vision and easy to use”.

Non-pet owners are also big fans of the product as they use it to check in on their family members, with one shopper commenting: “Absolutely love mine. Can check on falls risk mum when I’m at work.”

“Set two cameras up at my mum’s place while she was away. Easy to monitor the house,” another wrote on Kmart’s website. “When she is home they are set in privacy mode but if I want to check on her at any time then I can log in and check on her at any time.”

Not everyone was positive in sharing their reviews, however, with a handful of people admitting they didn’t have the best experience with the product.

“I had this and after a few months, it stopped working. Have to unplug and plug again and it would disconnect after 30 mins. I don’t recommend,” one shopper said.

“Hated mine, returned it after the app kept failing to connect or freezing all the time and needed to be restarted,” someone else remarked, while another user wrote, “I had one, it was great. Then it stopped working. Don’t know why”.

Others explained that they had occasional issues with the product when it would go offline, but it would continue working once they reset and reconnected it.

Meanwhile, Kmart also sells a Wi-Fi-enabled, battery-powered outdoor camera for $79 if you want to check on your pets or family members when they’re outside, or simply have extra security at home.
