If you own a pet, there is a good chance you are a little, umm, obsessed with him or her. I say this with some authority as I am a person who is so obsessed with my dog that it has made me the butt of many jokes.

However, if you are a pet owner then you also know that the bills that come with these faithful companions can really stack up. Between vet check-ups, flea and tick medication, food, toys, grooming and more, these cute-as-a-button creatures can cost some serious coin.

That's why some Kmart shoppers are super excited about an item that can save them a substantial wad of cash. The Pet Hair Cordless Clippers are $40 from the budget retailer and come with rave reviews from both the official Kmart website and from an online Kmart forum to boot.

"Hi all, I would like to know if anyone has used the dog clippers, are they as functional as the expensive brands?" a curious shopper asked in a group.

"Yes, they are great. I use them on my cavoodle, retriever and even my horses' manes," one person replied (clearly showing off as she's out here with two dogs and some horses while some of us are over here suffering with only one dog when they want ten).

"These are great I use on my spoodle and cocker spaniel great clippers just as good as expensive brands," another show off pet owner said (I am, of course, kidding so please don't come for me.)

"I bought these and they’re the best clippers I’ve ever used even better than the Wahl ones I had," said another happy shopper.

Considering Wahl retail for around double the price of the Kmart ones, that's a pretty glowing endorsement.

From Maltese Shitzus to labradoodles, cavaliers and more, many dog owners expressed how pleased they were with the affordable grooming product.

"Best $40 I’ve spent!" one of them said.

Cat owners were equally thrilled with the Kmart find as one person said, "Yes they are amazing loved them used them on the cats made life so much easier."

"I have these to shave my cat and they work brilliantly!," another revealed, going on to explain that her car is a Persian" with extremely thick fur. "The clippers worked perfectly," she said.

On the Kmart website, where the clippers have a 4.6 rating out of 37 reviews, one person raved, "I needed clippers for an extremely matted ragdoll cat, I'd read reviews on a few different brands & was impressed with the Kmart ones, I did all they said 1st, fully charged & oiled it, the cat I was doing is a large fat girl, with long hair, with matts all over, she's never been clipped before but, within 20 mins she was hair free & not one protest, the clippers are comfortable to hold, are quiet & work brilliantly, so fast & easy, am so happy I bought these."

"Worked amazingly well on a dog with a very thick coat. Will be easy to keep her coat manageable. Great value for money," someone else said.

It seems that customers appreciate that these clippers are fairly quiet - which is great if you have an animal who scares easily or has had bad experiences with groomers in the past.

Another person noted that they were "Easy to use clippers, with good instructions. Charged quickly. Lots of different head sizes to clip onto."

Battery life got a mention too with a shopper writing, "Good product, worked well and exceeded my expectations! Lots of accessories and good long battery life. If you want to groom a frisky pet and it takes longer, no stress that you run out of power with the job half done."

Of course, the price was also something that many people called out as a bonus and several said they found the Kmart version superior to more expensive ones they had used in the past.

The one complaint that popped up a couple of times was that the clippers get hot if they are in use for too long.

"It does the job," someone said. "But the base when using it without the plastic clips can become a little hot. But with clips on and used correctly slowly can give an ok cut."

SHOP:

"Ok but don't like delayed start have to hold button down interrupts use too much," was another complaint.

All in all, though, it sounds like the reviews for these $40 bad boys are overwhelmingly positive so if you are keen to attempt an at-home groom on your beloved pet, or need something to help keep their fur tidy in between professional appointments, this could be just what you're looking for!
